LEED Exams for Specialty Credential Announced for Canada

New LEED Accredited Professional (AP) Exams Announced for Canada

The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) has announced the launch dates for the new LEED AP specialty exams in Canada.

For more than a decade the LEED Professional Credentials have been recognized in the commercial and residential building sectors as a mark of significant achievement. Earning a LEED Professional Credential demonstrates a candidate’s comprehensive understanding of, and commitment to, green building design, construction and operations.

Offered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), the exams will be available across Canada beginning in June 2010. Credentials are available to a range of building professionals, helping candidates select a credential most relevant to their line of work. Those that pass the exam will join the ranks of 10,000 Canadians who achieved the original LEED AP credential. The growing ranks of LEED APs are now helping design, construct, and manage some of the most innovative and greenest buildings in Canada.

The Canadian launch dates are as follows:

• LEED AP ND (Neighbourhood Development): June 11, 2010
• LEED AP BD+C (Building Design + Construction): Sept. 1, 2010
• LEED AP Homes: Sept 9, 2010
• LEED AP O+M (Operations + Maintenance): Sept. 9, 2010
• LEED AP ID+C (Interior Design + Construction): Sept 14, 2010

Please note that deployment dates may fluctuate slightly due to scheduling.

Canadian professionals must meet the criteria as established by the GBCI before writing a specialty exam. For more information on the credentialing program and supporting education programs please visit www.gbci.org or www.cagbc.org.
